Crowley is a disgrace to our kind for giving in to the Forsaken. My pack will show them the true face of the worgen and the relentless fury that comes with our presence!”

Ivar Bloodfang

The Bloodfang Pack[4] are a group of feral worgen that attacked Gilneas City sometime prior to the Forsaken invasion of Gilneas.[5] Ivar Bloodfang is the leader of the Bloodfang worgen of Silverpine Forest.[3] While initially hostile to the Gilneans, a pact formed between Darius Crowley and Ivar Bloodfang paved the way for the pack to ultimately join the Alliance.

History[]

The Bloodfang worgen claim to have been in Silverpine prior to the arrival of the Gilneas Liberation Front. According to statements from Ivar Bloodfang, they hold resentment towards Gilneas, specifically Greymane, for having abandoned them and having left them to die beyond the Greymane Wall.[6] They were part of Alpha Prime's Wolf Cult under Arugal, as all worgen in Silverpine were. It is unknown whether or not the Bloodfang were a pack of their own or were created after the destruction of the Moonrage and Shadowfang packs.

Ivar Bloodfang, packleader of the Bloodfang.

When the worgen attacks upon Gilneas first occurred, it was Bloodfang's worgen that led the charge. They swarmed the streets of Gilneas City; turning many into Afflicted Gilneans. This included former Northgate rebel, Josiah Avery, who proceeded to turn and bite an adventurer who would become one of Gilneas' champions. Following the death of Alpha Prime, Ivar Bloodfang was seen as the alpha by the ferals of Silverpine.[7]

After witnessing the Forsaken's cruelty to their kind, the pack later joined forces with Darius Crowley and his Gilneas Liberation Front against the Horde in Silverpine Forest.[8] Ivar Bloodfang was present alongside Darius Crowley when meeting with the Refugee Leadership. He and his pack later aided Crowley in distributing blood to the rest of the humans who had accepted the pact, turning them into Hillsbrad Worgen[9]

Members of the Bloodfang pack can also be seen as having joined the Gilneas Liberation Front, such as the Bloodfang Scout and Bloodfang Berserker. They managed to sabotage an orc fleet that came to help the Forsaken[10] and ambush the undead.[11] They also later aid with establishing the Gilneas Liberation Front Base Camp.[12] After Sylvanas Windrunner captured Lorna Crowley and used her as a bargaining chip in securing Crowley's surrender, the Bloodfang pack retreated from Silverpine to the contested areas of Gilneas.[3]

The Bloodfang pack continued to oppose the Forsaken in Hillsbrad Foothills where they have allied with the Stormpike Guard, with both sides jointly claiming Purgation Isle, and are attacking the Forsaken stationed at the Ruins of Southshore.

Despite Ivar's original apprehension about joining forces with Gilneas, the Bloodfang still assisted the Alliance even after the order was given to abandon and retreat from Silverpine Forest.[3] It is seen that Ivar's opinion of Crowley has obviously dropped[13], he is still seen as being very willing to work with the Alliance despite the conditions of the original pact.

Battle for Azeroth[]

The Bloodfang Pack re-mobilizes back into Silverpine defeating Deathstalker Hayward and claiming Fenris Isle. The Horde proceeds to distract the Bloodfang forces, so that evacuations can continue across the Lake.[14] They also lend forth Bloodfang Stalkers to aid with the Alliance war effort in the name of Gilneas.

They later mobilize with Gilneas into Darkshore, led by their packleader himself.

When Mathias Shaw and Flynn Fairwind embarked on their journey to explore Azeroth as well as catalog the locations of various artifacts, they visited Silverpine Forest.

Shaw noted his main contact in the area as Packleader Ivar Bloodfang, stating that the packleader was his contact within Shadowfang Keep. The pack has apparently claimed it, alongside Fenris Isle, and has taken most of the artifacts within the Shadowfang to Fenris Keep to be guarded closely.

Shaw notes that while the Bloodfang are their allies, they are so close to feral that he advises his spies to not let their guard down around them.[15]

Dragonflight[]

A few years later, Fenris Isle and its keep has been claimed by the Scarlet Crusade, who used it as their base operations during their attack on the Ruins of Lordaeron.[16] Although they were defeated and driven out by the Forsaken, it is unknown what happened to the Bloodfang and the artifacts they kept on the isle.

Notes[]

  • They infected Josiah Avery.
  • Despite attacking Gilneas itself, the Bloodfang seem to harbor some loyalty to the kingdom. They share the traditional worgen click quotes, including Ivar himself. They deploy to Darkshore alongside the other Gilnean forces, despite having little reason to do so outside of killing Forsaken. They also, somewhat ironically, hold a strong loathing for traitors; especially Lord Godfrey. Multiple times, Ivar Bloodfang makes note of his desire to kill Godfrey, Baron Ashbury, and Lord Walden for being traitors; using the word as an insult repeatedly and making reference to their betrayal of Gilneas.[17][18]
    • As many of the Bloodfang worgen would have originally been Gilnean, it's possible that, similar to Darius Crowley, they held disdain more for the isolationist policies, rather than the actual nation itself.
