The Adventurers created by Blizzard

Few in-game adventurers do appear in-game. I think we should post them. I know they appear to be funny and mocking citations of the real players... but still, expecially in Cataclysm, lorewise they contribuited to create lore. Having listened to it, I would not say it's an adventurer speaking. To me it's more like a narrator that goes over what's happened in the past, what's happening now, and what's in store for "us" (the adventurer). If it were truly in character, it wouldn't have any mention of Pandaria (even indirectly) because realistically "we" wouldn't know anything about it. That in turn would defeat the whole point of the video, which was to announce the then-upcoming expansion. -- Alayea (talk / contrib) 23:17, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

Exactly what I was thinking. Even if that were not the case, since there is no confirmation whatsoever that this is indeed an adventurer (as far as I know), we can't pose it as fact/truth, and it should go under the speculation section. - ShellShockLive (talk) 17:13, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Maw Walkers

I feel like the Maw Walkers should have their own page and not just be a redirect to here, considering that (unlike generic terms like "hero" or "mercenary") there is specific lore about what a Maw Walker is (e.g.  [53-60] Maw Walker,  [58-60] Torghast, Tower of the Damned) and it's not exclusive to player characters (in a no-longer available BlizzCon 2019 interview, John Hight called Sylvanas the first Maw Walker).

I've been turning "Maw Walker" mentions into [[Maw Walker]] when I see them because I've been intending to turn it into its own article, but in most cases, Mordecay has come through after me and changed it to [[Adventurer|Maw Walker]], and I don't know what everyone else thinks about it. -- DeludedTroll (talk • contribs) 03:14, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

tbh i'm not a fan of turning redirects into direct links in the first place when the two things aren't like, 100% obviously the same. i think the "Redirected from ____" message can be valuable in giving a little context when the text a reader clicks on and the page they wind up on don't match. plus, as in this case, having relevant links point to the redirect means we don't have to go back and re-correct them if the redirect ever gets made into an actual article.

like, something like [[World of Warcraft: Legion|Legion]]? yeah, that makes perfect sense to me. but "Maw Walker" and "adventurer" aren't entirely synonymous and, imo, that means the redirect should be allowed to do what redirects are meant to do.

Ah, didn't know there was going to be a page, but since it encompasses Sylvanas, having a separate page sounds good. I can correct the links back, no problem, but Shadowlands Map speaks specifically about the adventurer maw walker, so it feels like it makes more sense to link to the adventurer page instead of the Maw Walker page (general lore). The majority of "Maw Walker" uses in quests are addresses to the player character (the adventurer). Should the context be taken into consideration or should the adventurer part of the link be taken out so that any and all Maw Walker links be links to Maw Walker? -- Mordecay (talk) 10:14, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

I think it's more intuitive if most Maw Walker links point to Maw Walker. "Adventurer" can refer to player characters in any expansion or context, but "Maw Walker" refers specifically to their role in the Shadowlands, if that makes sense. -- DeludedTroll (talk • contribs) 15:27, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
