Eat Me

Reply Posted by ScoutyMcScoutface on 2004-11-14 01:03:03[]

The fish says, 'Eat Me' on it. When you do, it seems you get a random effect, curse or buff. It's really rather entertaining. I've had healing effects, dmg reductions, shrink, etc. I assume the cooked version does the same. Reply Posted by aaronne <Call of Fate> on 2004-11-17 13:58:55 When I ate it I turned from a hulking cow into a cute female human pirate. Yaaarrrr!

When she danced she did the Macarena.  :) The effect lasts one hour.

I had alot of fun with this. Just got my cooking up before the open beta ended and made a bunch. Effects I experienced were Yaarr as posted above. Also Flip Out, another disguise that looked sorta like a human ninja, with an hour timer. Also sometimes it would turn me into a blob for 10 seconds. Another benificial buff was Fast Casting, I think it was called, a 2 minute buff that halved casting time. Got Feign Death a few times, though mostly I resisted it... and one more negative result from using the Food was a fear effect that lasted 10 minutes. Effects

Reply Posted by kardinal on 2004-12-04 16:49:13[]

So far, it has resulted in:

2 minute Rapid Cast 10 minute Cowardice (Fear) Also comes with 5-seconds of "Run Away", randomly running in circles. 5 minute Fake Death (you can remain in the prone "dead" position for up to 5 minutes. If you move, it goes away) 60 minutes in pirate form!

I'll post more as I find them!

So far I've catalogued the following effects from eating the fish:

  • (60 min) Yaaarrrr (turns you into a pirate)
  • (60 min) Flip Out (turns you into a ninja)
  • (10 sec) Oops (turns you into a pile of goo)
  • (2 min) Rapid Cast
  • (10 min) Cowardice (causes 5sec "Run Away" fear)
  • (insta) +50 Rage (Warriors Only)
  • (5 min) Fake Death raw deviate fishes

I tried and eated a few and had some weird effect.. I got a shrink (2 min long, reduced stamina and strength), a 30 secs sleep, a rejuvination (as per spell, dunno the rank), a healthy spirit (or something the like, 30 mins of augmented spirit), some sort of heal (450 hp or so)....but no transformations! I guess I'll have to raise my cooking skills..

Can you just catch the fish and eat it or do you have to loot this recipe?

Reply Posted by Coralin on 2004-12-14 19:17:09[]

Yeah, you can jsut eat the fish.

I actually haven't seen any NEGATIVE effects from the cooked fish; it seems the cooked fish is pretty much focused on flip out, yaaarrr, oops, and feign death...

Only Horde[]

Reply Posted by katha on 2005-01-04 02:44:10

Is this recipe available only to Horde or is it for Alliance too.

I was wondering this since the fish only seem to be available in The Barrens and that other place, which I've never hear of party time!

It's not exclusive to the Horde; while the fish and recipe can only be farmed in a Horde area, Alliance characters can go into the Barrens and get them; I don't know how many overpriced Savory Deviate Delights and recipes I've seen in the Alliance AHs. Felindre

Reply Posted by jakethejuggalo on 2005-01-14 10:31:39[]

One of the buffs i got was "Party Time!" which makes you randomly burst into dance and do random emote for 2 min. Party time!!!

=Reply Posted by beefman on 2005-01-24 21:02:10[]

I've gotten party time 2 times in a row.

It's really annoying doing random emotes for the 2 minutes you get.

P.S. I really wanna be turned into a pirate. The cool stuff

Reply Posted by susto on 2005-01-26 15:21:50[]

Been a Pirate and a Ninja for an hour. Out of 10 cooked delights, had each disguise once. Other than that I was feared, feigned death, and turned into a blob. I'm going to hunt in the barrens now to find the recipe! =)

Savory Deviate Delight[]

Reply Posted by Sliplash on 2005-02-06 22:32:45

I've heard you can get the Savory Devaite Delight recipe from a quest...not sure though. And if you DO find them in AH (Auction House)...how much would they cost?

cost[]

Reply Posted by Jiub on 2005-02-12 13:35:11

I see them in AH all the time and usually there is a 1g to 1.5g buyout for 5 of the cooked ones.

Reply Posted by Sliplash on 2005-02-13 00:31:11[]

Yeah, I just got one not too long ago for a buyout of 2 gold..it's pretty cheap but you have to keep your eyes OPEN..or they'll get taken from under your nose quickly. /:

Is it possible for a non horde to get this as a random drop?

And of course fish up the fish in the barrens...

Fake Death[]

Reply Posted by qaxlor on 2005-02-22 06:28:58

Just a note, I got fake death using this and I stayed "dead" for the entire duration without moving. After the "fake" death effect expired, I actually died and got the "Release Spirit" prompt and had to do a corpse run. Kind of embarassing to have to do a CR to Ogrimmar. Anyhow, I put in a ticket because I thought it was a bug and the GM told me the effect is intentional. I doubt anyone except me will be patient or stupid enough to sit through the whole five minute effect, but just in case. price has gone up i guess

/cry Raw, Cooked, and Recipe Reply Posted by Kelaria on 2005-03-26 13:46:38 Last edit: 2005-03-26 13:51:55 I'm on the Alliance side of Feathermoon, btw.

Raw - eating the fish can fear you, make you sleepy (stunned) for 30 seconds, heal you in different ways, or bless you for 30 minutes. I ate several raw, and I did not see it do anything else. It probably has other 'tricks' though.

Cooked - the fish does all sorts of things including 1 hour long transformations to things like rogues in perfect black outfits, pirates, shrinking, and other fun things. The transformations are male/female specific, too, so you won't accidently turn into a guy pirate if you're a girl. It's kind of like Noggenfogger silliness, I believe. You can also turn into slime, get 10 minutes of cowardice, feared, etc.

Recipe - Yesterday I spent over an hour with a group farming ALL over the barrens throughout many different 'areas'. I killed everything I could find, humanoid, beasts, elites, etc. I even killed Polly the level 50 parrot. Nothing.

Today I went back and I stayed in "Barrens" area only, near Ratchet and below Thorn hill. I killed every beast I could find non-stop, looting only the greens. I got the recipe today off a Barrens Giraffe; I'd say, in about an hour serious hunting. I'm a level 50, so it was fast killing 1-2 shotting everything. I got a total of 8 greens before the recipe dropped.

Good luck! It can be done.

Reply Posted by hyacin on 2005-03-29 08:20:08 it's "fixed"...has nothing to do with "luck"....there is no such thing as "luck" Reply Posted by mgs452 on 2005-03-29 20:04:06 took me over 7 hours of killing everything in sight in the Barrens to finally get this off of a Zebra. Made over 5g in vendor junk. Reply Posted by Grunff on 2005-03-30 01:20:46 ok Im tauren shaman, and when you turn into pirate/ninja you can:

turn into ghost wolf, you don't actually become a wolf, but you can run as fast. You can't cast spells, but when you melee, you can use your weapon and shield.

you cannot take flight paths, you can't mount. If you take boat (I guess zep too) you lose the effect, which sucks. I wanted to travel as ninja to booty bay. Org: Not much demand as this is a Barren's only drop so not much Horde interest, so 2-10g depending Gadgetzan: Much more demand, so 20-35g Iron Forge: HUGE Demand Seen from 40-100g

At alomost any given time in Org at my current server I will see 2-3 for sale, as well in Gadgetzan, but for 3-5x as much woo! Reply Posted by gossamerrain on 2005-07-16 23:53:14 I'd been halfheartedly farming for this for a few days; this morning, I decided to switch onto my alt and do some fishing. I killed a couple of Snapjaws for the heck of it, and on the second or third turtle, out of nowhere- there it was! :D i've killed Spearhide twice and a half-dozen Wooly Kodos (and an elite kodo named Brontus or something of the sort, twice,) but no luck with them. Guess drop rates aren't everything. Immune to polymorph Reply Posted by Swiftlady on 2005-07-17 06:27:08 Also nice effect when you are shapeshifted (pirate or ninja), you are immune to polymorph effects. 1.6 Reply Posted by Babin on 2005-07-18 00:06:44 Last edit: 2005-07-18 00:20:28 As of 1.6 patch, all effects of eating this except for ninja/pirate shifts seem to have been removed. In a stack of 20, none of them failed to grant a shapeshifting effect. This means you no longer have to give several of them to your friend(s) each to ensure that they are transformed.

I handed my other stack out for free in Orgrimmar. There were many jokes, and much drinking of Bourbon occured.

Random facts- 1. The affect no longer vanishes when you log out, switch continents, or go through an instance. 2. It does vanish when you die. 3. You can't mount or use flight paths. 4. If you must use a mount, you can dispell the effect by right-clicking the buff icon by your map. This goes for nearly all buffs, but I mention it because some people don't know. You will not be able to change back without consuming another Deviate Delight. 5. Skeleton form (Noggenfogger) will overwrite the effect. Use with caution if you hope to shrink yourself. Free Fish on Shadowsong Reply Posted by Dakhar on 2005-07-18 23:30:21 As of July 17, I've been handing these out in Crossroads for free every night at 10pm central time. If you're on Shadowsong and feel like joining in the Ninja/Pirate festivities, stop by the center of town after 10pm central. There's no telling how many days I'll keep this up, however I have enough fish for tomorrow night and everyone seems to enjoy it, so I'll likely continue throughout the week. =) no more rapid cast or fake death?
