The Skyfire in the Jade Forest.

The Skyfire in the Dragon Soul raid.

Cataclysm

Cataclysm This section concerns content exclusive to Cataclysm.

The Skyfire, helmed by Sky Captain Swayze, was called into service to aid in the defense of Wyrmrest Temple during the final assault by Deathwing and the Twilight Dragonflight. After Thrall attacked Deathwing with the Dragon Soul, causing him to flee to the Maelstrom, the Skyfire gave chase with a band of adventurers and delivered them, via parachute onto Deathwing's back. Tragically, both Swayze and the orc Ka'anu Reevs were thrown off Deathwing's back during this maneuver, falling hundreds of feet into the Frozen Sea.

Mists of Pandaria

MoP This section concerns content exclusive to Mists of Pandaria.

After Deathwing's defeat, the Skyfire was returned to active duty under the command of Sky Admiral Rogers. Alliance adventurers use it to fly from Stormwind City to Pandaria for the first time, where it serves as a remote base of operations against the Horde presence on the southern shores of the Jade Forest.[2] The Skyfire has had a complete overhaul since its encounter with Deathwing. It now carries a full complement of both fixed-wing and gyro aircraft (thirty gyrocopters)[3] as well as a battery of 18-inch smoothbore shore bombardment cannons. To date, it is considered the most powerful ship in the Alliance fleet.[4]

The Skyfire has appeared near Domination Point to provide the Alliance with a floating base of operations to take out the Horde and destroy their base, or at least slow them down. It also dispatches Alliance champions for the Assault on Zan'vess.
