Advice[]

Thanks for the advice. I'm kinda new to editing wikis and I was just trying to learn --Flodarien 02:17, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Where did you get the before/after screenshots? --SWM2448 02:01, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

I took them myself a long time ago. Back in the day I took a lot of shots for wallpapers. --SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 02:03, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Exellent.--SWM2448 02:06, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Subzones[]

Do not add subzones to places unless they are named in-game, RPG locations and fan names are sometimes confuseing.--SWM2448 22:37, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Only added the subzone, due to it being on the list of Elwynn Forest's subzones. If its going to be linked in there, it should have an exit link back to it. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 22:39, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Looks as though the template needs to be fixed to Stormwind City, rather than Stormwind. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 22:42, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Its fixed. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 22:45, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Links are not always correct.--SWM2448 22:46, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Do you have a problem? SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 22:49, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes. I am sorry.--SWM2448 22:50, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Stubs and SD[]

Please do not remove {{sd}} from stubs if there is no content and you are not adding any. This is per policy: "Do not mark empty pages as stubs. Stubs are for expanding info currently present, not a method for removing red (broken) links." --Pcj (TC) 05:37, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Thalassian Pass High Elf[]

Well I can only guess that the line you removed was referring to Adon. Is he involved in quests now (besides being one of the oldest easter eggs in the game, :p)?Baggins 07:05, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Yea, I couldn't remember his name, but thats the only elf near the pass....I /slap him all the time lol. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 07:07, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
...I didn't answer your question, haha, but yea, I heard the blood elf pallies have to go talk to him or something, during their class quests. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 07:09, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, that seems weird... Its not mentioned on his page at all.Baggins 07:33, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, doesn't look like any quests link to him according to any of the WoW database sites.Baggins 07:35, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
I might have been misinformed then...but I haven't leveled a BE paladin to see if it was true. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 07:37, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Adon is not a part of the BE paladin epic chain, though there is a quest that takes place not far from him. --Joshmaul 06:40, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Foxbot update tag[]

Just a few notes about this edit: |date= should be in Month Year format (|date=December 2007) rather than |date=Day Month; |tiponly=true is used to update tooltips in pages that already have content (and thus would lose some if the whole page is automatically generated), and results in spectacular failure if used on blank pages. You can always check User talk:Foxbot/UpdateItem for the update tag syntax. -- Starlightblunder 16:29, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Yea, sorry about the tiponly ones I did, just noticed where I copy and paste it from had it in there. Normally I don't use the tiponly parameter as I usually tag new items. As for the date thing, I was only doing it the way I saw others doing it. Didn't realize it was month year. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! H [16D] Returning the Lost Satchel[]

"19:01, 16 January 2008 Coobra (Talk | contribs) m (1,600 bytes) (fixed rep)" I just did the quest. I know how much Rep you get. Wanna see a screenshot? If you want to do the style and content police you should at least know what you are doing. And when you are fixing this, can you please also replace the "Under Construction" template at the Hidden Enemies quest chain by something other, like "Needs to be extended", or something like this? (Reeina 01:52, 17 January 2008 (UTC))

Just for your information, every source says the quest gives 350 rep, not 500...very rarely does a simple quest give that much rep for one of the main factions. So yes, I would like to see this screenshot. As for the "under construction" stub, if you are done with that page then remove it. Otherwise post your updates in the discussion page, not the official page. If you want to use a different stub, you can use either {{Stub/Quest}} or {{Stub/Other}}. Oh, and there's no reason for your rudeness. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 02:20, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
If somebody would "correct" every article you worked on and then copy/pasted a template onto your talk page that basically says: Read the rules! - How would you feel? And when you first pointed me to Help:Quest articles and later talked about "unwritten rules", do you think that is nice? Here is the screenshot, to justify myself: Snapshot 2008-01-17 08-23-39
And why should I post my updates on the discussion page and not the official page? My apologies for being rude. (Reeina 07:45, 17 January 2008 (UTC))
Well, I've had someone "correct" articles I've worked on, even have had them tagged for complete replacement (just because of one or two missing lines). So I know how you feel and I'm sorry I did that to you. As for posting updates, The official page (or article page) is for only known information about the subject, not for personal notes. So if you want to let others know you're still working on it, you place a {{Construction}} or use the discussion page and talk about what it needs or might not need.
I did the quest myself and undid my changes yesterday. Sorry I didn't believe you at first...it was rare to see quests give more than 250 back when I did those quests and to see them jump to 500...makes my characters feel...well... old. And when our 3 main sources of info are out-of-date, sometimes proof or citation is needed.
Had someone the other week believe Highlord Kruul was still in-game and removed the removed from game tag, stating in the edit summary line that he was indeed still there. But offered no proof to this when several of the rest of us have never seen him since BC came out. Sometimes certain people have to be watched, like new ones. But you've show to know your stuff, so you need not worry about eyes over your shoulders ... too much =D User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 19:39, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

elinks-quest gone?[]

So why did little timmy have to die? er... why did you remove the Elinks-quest template from that page? There's not even discussion on the template's talk page that it is being deprecated. I've been including it - and yes, despite the tooltip inclusion - because someone had come behind me in the past and included it. ... and I find it useful anyway. Tooltip at top of page, I don't have to scroll back up when I reach the page end...--Eirik Ratcatcher 22:53, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Which page...any quest page that has the external links at the bottom I have removed, cause there's no sense in having it there. All information is given on the page. So unless you're looking to edit the page, you need not go to other sites to see the same info. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 23:01, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
You -did- read what I wrote in the comment above, didn't you? :)
More, your argument extends to removing the entire gains/rewards section. I don't find removing either one to be helpful. --Eirik Ratcatcher 23:28, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
I was about to add: I use the links to see commentary not included on Wowwiki (when I'm not editing). But your "unless" implies that for most purposes, even the links in the tooltip "should be removed". I am... puzzled. Perhaps you meant something else? --Eirik Ratcatcher 23:30, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
The links in the tooltip are kept for the purpose of not only for quick access to other sites to keep the information up-to-date, but are there for the ones that want a second opinion. But They are not needed in both places. If you'd rather them at the bottom, have a vote on it.

I haven't removed them. - both element sets (external links, money/xp/item/faction) are duplicated in the tooltip, yet are being treated differently. --Eirik Ratcatcher 18:33, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Vote created. Would you be so kind as to register your vote at the top of the "yes" list, and add your POV to either the proposal, or comments, or both? I have no idea how the vote will turn out, btw, which is another spur to my putting it to a vote. --Eirik Ratcatcher 19:23, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Troll Kickers and friends[]

Hi Coobra, I really don't understand why you think that
[Troll Kickers] or
[Troll Kickers] or
[Troll Kickers]
is better then
[Troll Kickers (mail)] or
[Troll Kickers (leather)] or
[Troll Kickers (cloth)]
Why do you insist on forcing users to click on links blindly when you could display some of the info directly. I don't like the article name extensions in brackets either and avoid to display them if possible. But having two or (in this case) three links that look exactly the same without any obvious explanation is rather pointless, actually contraproductive.
Beside from hat: Keep going! (Reeina 14:52, 18 February 2008 (UTC))

Ok, you can't click on the links in tooltips. But whether you can click on them or not, I don't think it is helpful this way, cause the first thing that comes to my mind is that somebody copied the same template and forgot to edit it. And in Inv letter 02 [Letter from Lor'themar Theron] the quests don't appear in the tooltip. I really think, if the name extension helps to distinguish between different items with the same name within one article, it should be displayed.(Reeina 22:19, 18 February 2008 (UTC))

Stone of the Tides[]

Thank you ... mostly, anyway.... I'm amused that you prefer "Description" to "Quest text", and prefer a BR token to a hard CR (which for me accomplishes the same thing). --Eirik Ratcatcher 20:12, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

I presume that you personally verified the lack of reputation on A [37] The Haunted Isle? Checking The Usual Sources gave me different answers. For cases like that, I prefer having someone's first hand account to avoid echo chambering. --Eirik Ratcatcher 20:51, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the help![]

Thanks for catching my typo and flagging my trophy fish list for extra additions. I was having some newbie difficulty with translating the template, and am planning on working on those pages more now that I have figured out how to link the icons and costs correctly. Two questions if you will: 1 - How long usually after being flagged does the bot usually update? 2 - If I update a page prior to the bot updating, I assume I am ok to remove the bot request, or does it need additional review?

Do you have any valid reasons to keep the images marked for deleting? Saying that they should be kept because they are "hawt" isn't what I would call a valid argument. And if you want the artist's work then just look at his DA page...--g0urra[T҂C] 12:19, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Jpgs[]

Not sure if this was how to put something onto someone else's page (was looking for a start a new topic), but *shrugs* here goes. Was gonna ask about the jpg images. Even at compression of 85% the words for the mob name blurs. Should I stop clicking on the mob to have it's name appear? I just was doing that to show proof that it is indeed that mob and we're not being lazy by screening one that looks like it somewhere else. Advice?

Also, since I asked, is there a way to pm/whisper/etc someone without it being this public? Not that I have any reason currently, but just in case I'd like advice like this again, it doesn't have to go on a page like this. --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 07:55, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Well, they ask that screenshots for mobs/npcs that go into the npcbox be cropped where you don't see their name, but I've been guilty of having their names in the shot myself... as for whispering certain people and not making a public note on a talk page... could always ask for someone email, other than that, not really, since wiki's aren't generally for communication like forums are. I'll see if I can reupload the pictures that I've done recently, then. I didn't know about the no-name policy, but it makes it decidedly easier to take the screenshots. =D It'll also give me a chance to jpg the pngs that I've done. --User:Innocentlysassy/Sig 01:41, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Quest chain names[]

Shouldn't be under the "" pseudo namespace. Such as "Nothing But The Truth quest chain" should be at Nothing But The Truth quest chain. Thanks! --Sky (t | c | w) 23:30, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

In fact, if you don't plan on expanding the pages, they should probably be relocated to the template namespace, as "T:Nothing but the truth,". Make a "C:Quest progression templates" if you must. :) --Sky (t | c | w) 23:31, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
I've added further comments about this on Sky's talk page... :) --Eirik Ratcatcher 19:45, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Found again the comment on Sky's page. Felt guilty enough to do some updating to Help: Quest chain articles/Preload. Would appreciate feedback if you would. --Eirik Ratcatcher 18:17, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Slightly related: [1] is going to get you beaten by me. The idea was that quest chains with less than 4 or 5 steps don't transclude anything. You've done it in a few places, most of which are sitting in AfSPE. I'll poke away at the ones that need fixing as I clear the category; no need for you to go back and fix them. --Sky (t · c · w) 07:28, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, well, the voices are a-tellin' me that you need some whipping. So what's it gonna be, the spaghetti or the macaronis? --Sky (t · c · w) 07:34, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
All I've got is cream cheese. --Sky (t · c · w) 07:37, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

book template[]

Any reason why you're including a ====Header==== in the template call? It looks like it breaks the template as on Inv misc note 06 [Damp Diary Page (Day 512)] with the two separate [edit] links. Previewing the page without the header line seems to work okay, so I'm curious as to why you're doing it like that. --k_d3 22:55, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Cause there's currently no other way to prevent the first letter doing this:

Diary - Day 512

Since it's not a book, that doesn't look good, so I've been doing that for items that began oddly like Inv misc bandage 18 [A Bloodstained Journal Page] which contains "..." at the beginnning. Which would make it appear as such:

. . .downward spiral of despair.

So unless a way comes up to be able to turn it off in the parameters, the header is the only choice. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 23:04, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Book by John Ringo, "There Will Be Dragons". Scene in it: Two foes. The Bad Guy hurls a typical schoolyard insult at Our Hero. Our Hero, someone who is essentially an SCAer, proceeds to go down a list, insulting every characteristic of his foe, point by point. The trivial insults of the fellow who vandalized your page reminded me of that scene. I aspire to that level of glibness, someday, but my writer is a hack. Have you double checked that all the images there have no incoming links, whether from inclusion in articles or actual links? If so, I can go crazy. =) --Sky (t · c · w) 23:44, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Poke, for something unrelated: Please don't use {{PAGENAME} inside the bold. I can't really explain why, but would you do it for me? :) --Sky (t · c · w) 02:58, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
It isn't really more work. Substing works with it, so instead of saving the page with {{PAGENAME}, save it with {{SUBST:PAGENAME}. Bet you didn't know that! :0 --Sky (t · c · w) 03:01, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Do you want to be a Watchdog?[]

You seem like a good candidate for the Wowpedia:Watchdogs. Good job creating new pages, by the way. --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contr) 3:04 PM PST 25 Apr 2008

Sure why not. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 22:33, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm not exactly sure how you apply. I think you just ask Kirkburn, but you can do it with my recommendation. --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contr) 3:37 PM PST 29 Apr 2008
Thankyou for the recommendation. And I went ahead and put an application up. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 22:43, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

I Don't have that ability, ask Baggins. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 07:12, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm sorry for making you feel like that, wowwiki's motto is "be bold". You were trying to make a productive edit but it didn't work out. Don't leave. Arcanedeath (talk · contr)

Igotanger[]

He may not come back, but is some of the mess he made great enough to be removed?--Sandwichman2449 (talk) 02:45, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Eh, he was new at the time, spent most of his time trying to figure out his sig, you can undo my change if you like, but I just don't see an admin banning him for a page he created some months ago that others continued work on it. Continued work on it? Eh... Banning is pointless, but his comments are a bit of an eyesore.--Sandwichman2449 (talk) 02:52, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes they are lol. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 02:53, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Tributes[]

BTW, I like the inset boxed version of the tribute messages. If you can update each of the related character pages with that version it would be apprecieated, :).Baggins (talk) 04:16, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

I plan on attending this year - in character as Kendrall. Now, if I can just come up with the cash... - Kendrall (talk) 21:20, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

elink-staticdrop[]

You've cobbled together elink-item and elink-object on at least two pages that I've traversed, putting them into a table. I'm thinking that you're at the point where making a template that does both duties is worthwhile. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:37, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, I might later on.. but right now I'm over half-way done with that current project and I don't really want to go back over it until I'm done. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 04:41, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Now's the best time to consider it. Most of the benefit of such a new template would be in making your life easier IN that project. Been there, done that. You're attention span, though, so do as best suits you. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 00:26, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

RE: Armor shots[]

I just queried the item model in-game, and it's the same looks. I have no idea what M1330 is going on about.--g0urra[T҂C] 20:28, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
